DSSS Raw Material Inspection:
1. Visual inspections are done on every shipment of steel, prior to loading the steel onto the press. Certificate of Analysis is received on every heat number.
2. A melt flow test is performed on every shipment of polystyrene. Certificate of Conformance is received on every shipment of polystyrene.
3. Dimensional, visual and functional checks are done on shipments of packaging materials.
In-process inspections:
1. Perforating: Automated-optical dimensional inspection of first piece on perforated strip.
2. Heat Treating: Hardness, toughness, dimensional and visual checks at intervals on heat-treated strip.
3. Grinding: Sharpness, smoothness, microscopic, visual and dimensional checks are performed hourly, as a minimum, on blades at every grinder.
4. Blade finishing: Sharpness, durability, physical, visual and microscopic examinations are performed on blades in every load that is processed through blade finishing.
5. Final inspection: 100% visual inspection of every bayonet of blades.
6. Cartridge assembly: Electronic inspection devices ensure assembly integrity. Continuous checks of assembled product by the operator.
