Mangosteen has round and cover with a green husk when unripe and turing to dark purple when ripe. The end that attached to the stalk has a green, sepal-like covering. The flesh is white and divided in to segments, the number of segments equal to the number of segments at the base of the fruit. The flesh is sweet or sweet and slightly sour, depending on the variety. Each mangosteen has two seeds. The sweet slightly tart flesh of mangosteen is a source of carbohydrate, calcium, iron, vitamin C, Vitamin B1.
The peak season is between May and June.
Another name of Mangosteen is the Queen of Fruits.
